Abstract: Amid ongoing technological progress reshaping the healthcare industry, incorporating IoT principles into healthcare systems, in what is currently referred to as the Internet of Health Things (IoHT), is crucial for redefining patient care, diagnostics, and overall healthcare administration. This study explores the intersection of healthcare and the Internet of Things (IoT), exploring the impact of connected technologies on the health industry. It details the foundational principles of IoHT and explores the integral roles played by interconnected devices, data analytics, and communication technologies in optimizing the delivery of healthcare services. Moreover, the study delineates the fundamental components of IoHT, encompassing wearable devices, smart sensors, and interconnected medical devices. Collectively, these elements contribute to fostering a connected healthcare ecosystem. Additionally, the architectural aspects of IoHT in healthcare are discussed, emphasizing the crucial involvement of data analytics, artificial intelligence, and machine learning. Furthermore, the study examines the challenges of implementing IoHT and proposed solutions. Finally, the exploration extends to real-world applications and case studies showcasing the transformative potential of IoHT across diverse healthcare domains, including remote patient monitoring, chronic disease management, and preventive healthcare. Different key stakeholders, researchers, and students will find the discussions insightful.
